The car was adequate; we rode the same comfortable bus the entire way. The only thing I'd say is "aww" is that the air conditioning is on very high, even with the individual vents closed. This is the case almost everywhere in Asia. So, bring some warm clothing or something to cover yourself with.

I left my camera on the seat on the bus from Yen Tu to Hanoi. I only realized it three hours after getting off the bus and called the driver in a panic. Because of an incident, my plane landed 1.5 hours late. But the driver still enthusiastically called and proactively waited for me to get to the airport and take me home safely. Even though it was close to the time to pick up passengers on the shuttle bus and the ticket cancellation deadline was overdue, when I called to request a change of flight, the company still enthusiastically supported me and arranged the seats in the right position.
