VIP 2-berth sleeper tickets from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City on the SE1 train start from 4.259.000VND per person. A VIP 2-berth bed costs exactly twice as much as a lower bed in a 4-berth cabin on the same train, and passengers get a private cabin with only 2 beds. Prices are based on a Vexere survey of trips in October 2026.
A VIP 2-berth cabin is the highest sleeper class on SE trains operated by Vietnam Railways. Each VIP cabin has only 2 beds, both on the lower level, with no upper berths like a standard 4-berth cabin. In the ticketing system, this class is coded AnLv2M and named "Khoang có 2 giường VIP" (VIP 2-berth cabin).
VIP cabins are not in a separate carriage. On the SE1 train, carriage 10 is a 4-berth sleeper carriage with 7 cabins, and cabins 3 and 4 in this carriage are designed with only 2 beds. As a result, each SE1 trip has only 4 VIP beds. On the same SE1 trip on 21/10/2026, the 4-berth class still had 111 beds available at the time of the survey.
According to carriage information on Vexere, the carriage with VIP cabins on the SE1 train is equipped with air conditioning, power outlets, wifi, thick mattresses, blankets, drinking water and a toilet. VIP 2-berth train tickets are sold per bed, with each ticket covering 1 adult.
VIP 2-berth cabins are sold on both the full North–South route and shorter routes such as Hanoi to Da Nang, Hanoi to Hue and Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang. The table below shows the lowest VIP cabin fare on each route.
| Route | Train | Price from | Travel time | Book |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Prices are per person, including taxes and fees, and are for reference only. Fares may change depending on the travel date, passenger type and berth position. Data surveyed for trips in 10/2026. Travel time is based on the fastest train with VIP cabins on each route.
Two trains sell VIP 2-berth cabins on the Hanoi to Da Nang route. The SE1 train departs Hanoi at 21:45 and arrives in Da Nang at 13:14 the next day, with VIP cabin fares from 2.383.000VND. The SE19 train departs Hanoi at 19:45 and arrives in Da Nang at 11:35 the next day, with VIP cabin fares from 2.574.000VND. VIP cabins on the SE19 train had seats available on only 3 of the 6 surveyed dates, so passengers travelling to Da Nang should book early or choose the SE1 train.
| Train | Direction | Departure and arrival | Travel time | Price from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SE1 | Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City | Departs 21:45, arrives 06:30 two days later | 32 hours 45 minutes | 4.259.000VND |
| SE2 | Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi | Departs 20:35, arrives 05:42 two days later | 33 hours 7 minutes | 4.259.000VND |
The SE1 and SE2 trains are the fastest pair of Reunification Express trains on the North–South railway. Both trains depart in the evening and arrive early in the morning on the third day, so passengers spend 2 nights on board. The long journey is the main reason many travellers choose a VIP 2-berth cabin on the SE1 and SE2 trains instead of a soft seat or a 6-berth cabin.
VIP cabins on the SE2 train were already sold out for 14/10/2026 on the survey date, while the 4-berth and 6-berth classes still had many beds available. With only 4 VIP beds per trip, this class usually sells out before other classes.
The table below compares the lowest fare per person for each sleeper class on the same SE1 train from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.
| Class | Price from |
|---|---|
| VIP 2-berth cabin | 4.259.000VND |
| 4-berth cabin, lower bed | 2.130.000VND |
| 4-berth cabin, upper bed | 1.991.000VND |
| 6-berth cabin, lower bed | 1.872.000VND |
One VIP 2-berth bed costs exactly the same as 2 lower beds in a 4-berth cabin. This double-price pattern held on every route and every train in the survey, including SE1, SE2, SE19 and SE22.
For 2 travellers, the most useful calculation compares 2 VIP tickets with buying all 4 beds in a 4-berth cabin.
| Option on the SE1 train | Total from |
|---|---|
| 2 VIP 2-berth tickets | 8.518.000VND |
| Whole 4-berth cabin (2 lower beds and 2 upper beds) | 8.242.000VND |
| Difference | 276.000VND |
| 2 lower beds in a shared 4-berth cabin | 4.260.000VND |
A whole 4-berth cabin costs 276.000VND less than 2 VIP tickets and fits 4 people. A couple who wants a private cabin pays almost twice as much as 2 lower beds in a 4-berth cabin shared with other passengers.
